Discover the Secret Side of Paradise
Did you know that beyond the famous turquoise lagoon of Balos lies a trio of hidden beaches, waiting to be explored?
While most visitors stay close to the main stretch of Balos Beach, only a few adventurous travelers get to experience these lesser-known coastal gems. Whether you’re up for a scenic hike from the main beach or prefer to reach them by sea with a local private boat company like SEAze the Day, these hidden spots offer quiet beauty, clear waters, and a true sense of escape.
So, where exactly are these unknown and affectionately nicknamed beaches near Balos?
Let’s dive into each of them!
The Quiet View
Just 750 meters northeast of the main Balos Beach, The Quiet View is the largest of the hidden beaches—and the easiest to reach on foot. It earned its name because it offers a peaceful, picture-perfect view directly toward the Balos Lagoon.
To get there, follow a narrow path that hugs the shoreline. It’s a short hike, and totally worth it. Nestled in a natural cove, this small beach is well-protected from the waves, making it a serene spot for swimming or simply relaxing with the view that gave it its name.
If you’re lucky, you may even have it all to yourself.
The Goat’s Path
About 370 meters further from The Quiet View, and nearly 1,000 meters from the main Balos Beach, you’ll find The Goat’s Path—a small, untouched beach that feels like a world of its own.
With a shoreline just 20 meters wide, this beach is a quiet haven, rarely visited. Most likely, you’ll have it entirely to yourself—unless a private boat is anchored nearby, or a few curious wild goats wander through (yes, it happens!).
The sandy cove is surrounded by shallow, rocky seabeds, making it a perfect spot for some relaxed snorkeling or peaceful sunbathing. It’s remote, raw, and deeply connected to the wild nature of Gramvousa.
The Local Secret
This is it—the most hidden beach near Balos, and definitely a favorite for those in the know.
Tucked away in a tiny, rock-protected bay, The Local Secret is so well hidden, it’s barely visible on Google Earth—you have to seriously zoom in to spot it. Located farther from the main Balos beach, it’s difficult to approach by foot and nearly invisible from the sea, thanks to a small island that blocks it from view along the typical boat route.
This miniature sandy beach fits just 3–4 people comfortably, making it the ultimate private escape. The water is crystal-clear, calm, and perfect for a peaceful swim.
Very few locals even know it exists—which is why it’s such a highlight for private boat tours. If you’re visiting Balos by sea and looking for an exotic, tranquil stop… this is it!
