TOUR DESCRIPTION
Are you ready to fish to the southernmost point of Europe? This fishing charter departs from the beautiful fishing village of Paleochora in the Southwest coast of Chania Region, Crete and heads 40 miles offshore to Gavdos Island. Gavdos is a small island at the south of Crete. It is considered to be one of the most remote and isolated islands in Greece and also a great fishing spot for the local fishermen. Despite its small size it has a very rich seabed full of reefs and different varieties of fish. Minos and Panagiotis, famous local fishermen in Crete, will guide you to this extraordinary fishing experience that you will never forget. Even if you finally don’t manage to catch many fish, the energy of the island and the feeling of living like a true local will feed you with feelings and memories for the rest of your life.

FAQ
The price of this private fishing charter from Paleochora to Gavdos starts from 1650 euros with an open deck RIB (group of up to 3-4 persons)
Approximately 1.5 hours.
Pickup and drop off with a private taxi isn’t included in the price. However we can arrange your transfer to the Port and your return to your villa with a private car upon request at an additional cost.
The techniques may vary depending on the season, the fish species, the weather conditions, and the fishing spots. Usually, we do spinning and bottom fishing with silicone lures and jigs or use live bait (small fishes or squids). Our usual targets will be Groupers, Dentex, Amberjacks, Squids, or a variety of smaller fish.
We will first catch squids between January to April and September to December. This will be our main bait for bottom fishing. Squids are the best bait for our waters, especially if it is fresh!
In Summer (May-August), we will primarily fish with silicon lures and jigs at depths between 30-100 meters, or bait (shrimps -squids) targeting groupers, snappers, and small tunas. During summer, the fish are more suspicious, and fishing is more difficult as we can’t keep the baits alive due to hot temperatures.
Therefore, we recommend combining the tour in the summer season with a fun day out in the water, swimming and relaxing!
We share the fish that we catch. On full-day trips, you can take up to one fish of 5 kg with you. Then, we can clean it and arrange a nice restaurant for you and your family/company to eat the fish or we can eat it together on Gavdos Island in a local traditional tavern.! Catch and release is also allowed.
Between June 15 and September 10, bring your Beachwear, Towels, Sunscreen Hat, sunglasses, and a long-sleeved shirt (for sun protection). Remember to bring a wind jacket if you book a trip earlier than June 15. The average (low-high) temperature in the Summer (June -August) in Crete is 20-33 degrees, usually without clouds.
For the months of April, May, June (1st half), September (second half), and October, the average temperature may vary between 18-28 degrees. Bring a long-sleeved shirt or a wind -jacket in case of cloudy weather, rain, or a late return to the Port.
Don’t forget to bring travel gums if you think that you may feel sea sickness. Take the first dose 30 minutes before our fishing charter begins.
